Dear Editor,
Mr Malcom Ali in his letter captioned “The entire Abary river is silted and would require a very expensive operation to fix” (08.01.06) is right on the money. Cleaning or desilting the Abary River is quite a monumental task , akin to taking molasses uphill .
The question is who will lend money for such an exercise.
The government must start putting on the drawing board a massive plan for the exodus of the nation to the hills . But of course a decision to start anything of this magnitude would require massive doses of vision , and for the last 15 years evidence of the faculty of imagination in action by the government is mediocre.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Tannassee
