Fire last night swept through a section of the Guyana National Industrial Company (GNIC) complex on Lombard Street destroying a section of a bond housing barrels and other items.
The fire was the third in a matter of months to strike at the wharf and it is unclear how it started. When Stabroek News arrived at the scene last night, the blaze lit up the night sky and sparks flew everywhere as if in a pyrotechnic display.
