The St Joseph Mercy Hospital says its maternity wing will be in full operation from Wednesday.
In a press release the hospital said it had had to suspend services in that department due to a lack of qualified midwives. “With the reopening of the newly renovated department we are staffed with five full-time qualified Midwives,” the hospital said, adding that it also has three registered nurses pursuing midwifery training. The nurses are expected to complete the course and become available in July.
In celebrating the reopening Mercy said it is offering a special financial package for deliveries.
