Two men accused of embezzling $1M worth in boating equipment from the mining company they work for during a three-year period, yesterday appeared in court and were remanded to prison by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
Deonauth Ramdeen, 25, of Lot 3 B Bel Air Village and Roshan Rampersaud, 29, were not required to plead to the embezzlement charge.
It is alleged that between August 2004 and December 31 last at Port Kaituma, being clerks at Crown Mining supplies, the duo embezzled two diesel engines and components valued $1M.
The prosecution asked for bail to be refused informing the court that investigations are still being conducted.
According to the prosecution the duo has already admitted to two embezzlement charges and they should be considered flight risks.
The matter will continue on February 9.
