Dear Editor,
Like so many others, I am a regular viewer of the TV Programme “Law and Order”.
Appreciating the high tech approach to solving crimes, I do not expect the same for our local law enforcers. However one aspect of the modern approach is that where sexual assaults occur, there is a “Special Victims Unit” charged with investigating and collecting evidence including DNA. Specially trained officers interview victims, not untrained and unsympathetic police men and women more interested in the gory details of the report than the plight and trauma of the victim.
Mr Editor, it is certainly not too late for us to set-up similar units.
Yours faithfully,
Randolph J. Eleazar
