The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is advising the public that processing of TIN applications is free and that no one is authorised to collect payments for any aspect of the process, in the wake of reports that persons have been soliciting money to complete the form.
The GRA said it has been informed that persons at Parika have collected large sums of money for the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) application forms and are charging additional sums to complete the form on behalf of employees. The GRA said the forms are available at the Registry, General Post Office (GPO) Robb Street and at the Value Added Tax Department at Albert and Charlotte streets. It can also be accessed at the Authority’s website at www.revenuegy.org, with no cost attached.
The Authority said too it is making every effort to replenish its stock of applications at regional offices which have exhausted their supplies. The GRA said “it is of absolute importance that the forms are signed and submitted” with some form of identification such as a copy of the applicant’s National Identification Card, passport or National Insurance Scheme card, and deposited into the box located downstairs at the GPO building.
The GRA is also advising employers who have submitted their employees’ applications to uplift their TIN numbers until the certificates arrive by post. Registry Supervisor Corrine Williams-Wilson said most of the certificates have already been mailed but persons can uplift their TIN from the Registry while their certificates are in the post.
