The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has a new general secretary. He is former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and current president of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Noel Adonis.
Adonis has taken up the position made vacant after the previous general secretary George Rutherford resigned.
According to a release from the GFF, Rutherford has taken up an offer by a regional organisation.
The general secretary is required to oversee the day to day affairs of the GFF and Adonis, who is also an executive member of the Guyana Olympic Association and a Lecturer and Dean at the University of Guyana, brings to the federation, a wealth of experience in management.
Rutherford served as general secretary from October 2001 to December 2007.
Rutherford is still an Honorary Executive Committee member at the Federation and has vowed to continue working towards the development of football in Guyana.
Prior to performing the day to day functions of the GFF Rutherford was a vice-president the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) under the Maurice John administration.
The executive body of the GFF endorsed the appointment of Adonis to perform the duties of General Secretary, a mantle he took up from the 15th January 2008.
