Two men yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on separate robbery-under-arms charges and were remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive Hamilton.
First to be called was Mark Yaw, 48, of 28 Princes Street, Wortmanville, who has been accused of robbing a man at knifepoint of a quantity of raw gold and jewellery.
He was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to him. Yaw who was without an attorney told the court that the person making the allegation is lying on him.

Several minutes later 20-year-old Nazeem Persaud also called Nazeem Khan of Charlotte Street, Georgetown appeared before the magistrate also charged with knifepoint robbery. Persaud was not required to plead to the charge.
