The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) yesterday presented two covers and one brush cutter to some 28 clubs and associate clubs that are affiliated to the GCB.
At a simple presentation ceremony held at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) yesterday, GCB president Chetram Singh urged the recipients to take extra care of the products which are valued at over G$11m, and promised that other items inclusive of practice nets are on the way.
“I am hoping that the persons who will be taking care of these covers and brush cutters do take care of them. Over five to six years ago, the GCB did present to some first division clubs across Guyana covers which were misused to an extent. Therefore, we expect that these covers and brush cutters will be used solely for cricketing purposes,” Sing stated.
Highlighting the plight the GCB has to go through when they approach the National Parks Commission (NPC) for the use of its cutter to cut the grounds in preparation for the cricket season, Singh told the small gathering of club representatives and media personnel that the brush cutters could assist in getting the grounds ready to a point.
Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) president Harold ‘Doc’ Dhanraj moved the vote of thanks on behalf of the recipients and promised that great care will be taken of the items received.
