Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Monday released a 24-year-old market porter on $30,000 bail after he denied snatching a gold chain and stealing a t-shirt, when he appeared before her in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Levi Williams of Rosemary Lane, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to larceny from the person and simple larceny. He was granted self-bail on the simple larceny charge and $30,000 bail on the other matter.
It is alleged that on January 18 at Georgetown, he stole a gold chain valued $35,000 from Nankumar Ally and on the same day at Water Street he stole a t-shirt valued $3,500 from Kerwin Anderson.
Williams who was unrepresented told the court that he is a porter at the Stabroek Market and on the day he was arrested the police came “just like that and hole on pon me
