Police say they have upped security arrangements following threats from a man purporting to be the country’s number 1 fugitive, Rondell ‘Fineman’ Rawlins over the disappearance of a pregnant teenager of Buxton, East Coast Demerara.
Fear has grown over the disappearance of the teen – Tenisha Morgan seven days after she left her Buxton home. Police said that a man purporting to be Rawlins contacted the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters yesterday issuing threats if the girl is not found. Relatives of the missing girl however have since rubbished reports that Rawlins had a relationship with the teen, noting that the young woman’s boyfriend was living in Barbados. Rawlins had been Guyana’s most wanted for the past several years.
In a statement the police said that around 4 pm on Tuesday, Waple Morgan of Friendship, Buxton, East Coast Demerara, reported to the Police at Brickdam Police Station that her daughter Tenisha Morgan, 18 years, of the same address, was missing since Friday, January 18, 2008. She further reported, according to the police, that she had last spoken to her daughter on January 18, 2008, when she advised her to travel to Georgetown to stay with an aunt, as it was near time for her delivery. Police said that they are conducting investigations into this missing person report. The statement further noted that police at the Criminal Investigation De-partment (CID) Headquarters yesterday received a telephone call purportedly from Rawlins threatening the ranks.
Contacted last evening, Waple Morgan said that her daughter had left home on Friday night to go to Georgetown.
She said that her daughter was heading to her aunt in the city to assist her in getting to the hospital. According to Waple, her daughter travelled via a minibus to the city and when she arrived there she contacted her relatives in Kitty, saying that she was waiting on a taxi to get to them. Waple Morgan said while waiting on a taxi in the vicinity of the Berbice car park, a severe pain hit her child and she almost collapsed. Public-spirited citizens in the area assisted her to get into a taxi and the vehicle headed off with her to Kitty.
Waple Morgan said that it was anticipated that her daughter would have arrived at her relatives’ home, but that did not happen. “We have not received any call and no one is saying anything,” Waple Morgan said last night.
The woman is appealing to anyone who knows the whereabouts of her daughter to make contact with relatives on tele # 6474109. Asked about her daughter’s alleged relationship with Rawlins, Waple Morgan said she had heard the rumour, but insisted that there was no truth in it. “It is all rubbish
