Dear Editor,
Residents of Cumberland Village in East Canje are once again experiencing a drought, compliments of Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI). Divisional Manager of the company Mr Christopher Cathro, in a recent televised call- in programme on the National Communi-cations Network (NCN) Channel- Fifteen here in Berbice, said that there are currently twenty- three pumping stations operating in Berbice. Well, I beg to differ, because currently there seem to be only twenty- two once again.
Also since the pump became operable, as they said, on Wednesday evening last, there has been an immense low- pressure being experienced by the residents.
It was also made known to this letter writer that residents of Kendell Avenue located at Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam, have not been receiving potable water for the past two weeks.
An area located within the vicinity of the Penguin Hotel and Bar at Strand in New Amsterdam hasn’t been collecting since some time last month.
I am ready to tell more stories of areas across Berbice that are without potable and regular supply of water to their homes. I would like persons to contact me on Tel. 327- 7334 to relate to me their complaints which I am willing to air.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Jameson Suseran
