The Banks DIH Thirst Park ground will come alive tomorrow night when the final of the West Indian Sports Complex softball cricket competition will be played under lights from 18:30h.
Regal XI of Georgetown and Hustlers XI of West Coast Demerara will be challenging for supremacy in this 15-overs-a-side clash.
Regal XI will be led by the experienced Khalid Haslim who will have support from a strong batting lineup that includes the experienced Lance Adams, Wasim Haslim whose superb batting performance led his team to victory in the semi-final against Rangers XI, Zulfikar Mohammed, Mahendra Hardyal and the captain himself.
The bowling is in the capable hands of the persevering Mahendra Chunilal and Suruj Arjune with support from Khalid Haslim.
Hustlers are expected to continue their trend of creating upsets at the last hurdle and will be looking to star opener and former national opening batsman Zaheer Haniff to lead the way from the front with the bat.
Haniff has been among the runs in this competition and would want to continue doing so, so his team could create another upset in this competition. He will receive support from Troy Khan and Zaheer Ali along with Arshad Ali who also has big game temperament.
Their bowling department is not a strong force but it’s capable of being very economical thus forcing the opposing batsmen to play rash shots and lose their wickets in the process.
However, Tony and Ashraf Ali will be looking to spring a surprise on the Regal XI batsmen come Friday night which makes for a very exciting clash between the two teams. An exciting match-up is anticipated from ball one.
