A week has passed since the heavily pregnant Tenisha Morgan left her Buxton home for the city to deliver a baby and things are beginning to look dire in the eyes of her relatives.
There has been no definite word on the whereabouts of the teenager since her mysterious disappearance. Morgan’s due date was a week ago and she had left her East Coast Demerara home experiencing pain but never checked into a hospital. Her last known move was that she had taken a taxi and was heading for her relatives’ home in Kitty.
Yesterday relatives in the city said Morgan telephoned them when she arrived in Georgetown. They said that she was calling from a roadside telephone. The pain she was experiencing had eased and instead of going to the hospital she decided to go to the home but she never showed up.
The teenager’s mother, Waple Morgan remains in a disoriented state and full of questions. She told Stabroek News yesterday that people continue to speculate about where Tenisha is but added that no one really knows. She is struggling with the reality that Morgan has been gone so long without a word. She is also keeping the faith that she will show up unharmed soon.
“She is out there somewhere and I know that we are going to find her, something just tells me that we are going to find her, I have to believe that”, the woman said.
But she is also fearful that something bad might have happened. The mother said Morgan pretty much kept to herself particularly after she became pregnant and would spend most of her time at home caring for her younger siblings. Being the eldest of her children, Morgan managed the household when the mother was away in the interior.
According to her, Morgan was a quiet girl who attended church on occasions and who never gave any trouble. She said the girl had a relationship with a man who resides in Barbados. She said the man has already booked a flight home and is expected in the country in another two days.
The elder Morgan said she has been in touch with the police but they appear to be dragging their feet. She said the general response from the force has not been encouraging and she now considers the police a ‘dead-end’. She is hoping that someone out there will make contact with her and provide information that will lead to the girl.
For now she is clinging to prayers, and with the support of neighbours and her relatives staying strong and positive.
