Enterprise Primary School emerged as the champions of the Trophy Stall/AL Sports and tour Promotions 10th Christmas term windball cricket tournament when they defeated Uitvlugt Primary by 49 runs in the final at the National park recently.
Batting first on winning the toss, Enterprise reached 84-4 when their overs ran out with Vivian Albert who was later declared Batsman of the Championship scoring 48. Baskar Beepat offered worthy assistance with a responsible 20. Bowling for Uitvlugt, Alkebu Black took 4-2 including his second hat trick, to emerge as the best bowler of the tournament.
In reply, Uitvlugt were held to 35-2 with Black returning to lead the way with the bat making 26.
In the girls’ division of the same competition, West Ruimveldt Primary came out on top over Grove Primary by five runs.
Batting first, West Ruimveldt made 58-1 when their overs expired with Nareesa Hardeen leading the way with 13.
In reply, Grove Primary located on the East Bank of Demerara was held to 51-3 at the end of their overs in what was an exciting encounter between the two. Terolla Abrams top scored with 10 in a losing effort.
