The nursery school at Lusignan is set for a February 4 opening, the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) said in a press release.
The RDC said though electricity has not been installed at the $13.1M school it will be put into operation. The one-storey concrete school can accommodate 150 children. It boasts six toilets, a bathroom, a kitchenette, a rest room and rooms for the head teacher and staff.
According to the RDC the contractor, Eron Lall, said the electricity inspection has been completed and GPL will install the meter before the school opens.
The RDC started construction on the school in September. According to Regional Executive Officer, Shafdar Ali, it is better equipped and more conducive to learning. The children had been housed in the bottom flat of the Lusignan Primary School.
