Following the massacre of 11 persons at Lusignan last Saturday the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is calling on all political parties and stakeholders to come together and objectively examine the root causes of “this terror, since it does not go away with the killing and arrest of some bandits.”
In condemning the wanton killing and the attack on the police headquarters, the GCCI in a press release called on all citizens to remain calm and not engage in unlawful activities. Citizens were also asked to corporate with the security forces by passing relevant information and allowing them to conduct their operations.
The GCCI is of the view that now is not the time for “hollow rhetoric and blame casting” as the far reaching effects of the present situation will impact on the lives of everyone, on business and future development.
Offering condolences to the relatives of the slain and wishing the speedy recovery of the injured, the chamber said it will be working closely with the Private Sector Commission to see how together they can assist in the healing process.
