As the time nears for their first match in this year’s Stanford Twenty20 cricket competition, defending champions Guyana have stepped up preparations for the defence of the title they won in 2006 when the competition was first held.
Guyana will oppose Bermuda at the Stanford Cricket ground on February 10 and the team was involved in two training sessions yesterday.
The team trained yesterday morning at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) and in the afternoon at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground.
The team, minus Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Sewnarine Chattergoon, who are both in South Africa on West Indies duty, went through intense physical and fielding drills.
The team will be involved in another practice session this afternoon at the Police Sports Club ground from 14:30h (2:30pm) and all the players are excited at getting in some much-needed net sessions.
