Joint services in Buxton clash

Two gunmen were reportedly last evening killed during an almost hour-long shoot-out with joint services ranks in the Buxton backlands.

Information reaching this newspaper indicated that the lawmen advanced into the backlands after dusk and opened fire and came under return fire from gunmen hiding there.

It is believed that some of the gunmen who carried out the Lusignan killings on Saturday had escaped into the backlands where it is believed that a criminal network has been based.

One resident in Buxton could not say exactly what transpired but said that the areas was isolated and very dark and joint services ranks were on patrol.
