A 20-year-old businessman who tried to get a customer off his premises was on Tuesday taken before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on a charge of unlawful assault. He was placed on bail.
Anil Kadirwell of 7 Public Road Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
According to the virtual complainant, Edward Farley, on January 20 Kadirwell punched him in the face after he refused to pay for five beers which a woman had ordered unknowing to him and had placed on his bill.
Kadirwell’s father, on behalf of his son, explained to the court that it was getting late and they wanted to close their business, however, Farley was still sitting there aimlessly. The older Kadirwell said his son asked the man to pay his bill and leave and the man started to curse him. He said he saw the man grab his son who was behind the counter.
Anil Kadirwell was placed on $10,000 bail and the matter will continue on February 15 in Court Five.
