A 49-year-old Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara housewife was on Tuesday night robbed of cash and jewellery by a lone bandit, who fled leaving behind an unlicensed gun and some documents, after an alarm was raised.
Police in a statement said that Chabrajee Mohabeer was at her home when she was attacked and robbed by the bandit at about 8:30 pm. She heard a rapping at her door which she opened and was confronted by the man, who held her at gunpoint and tied her up with duct tape. He ransacked the house and took away cash and jewellery, the statement said.
“Mohabeer raised an alarm apparently causing the bandit to flee, leaving behind the unlicensed .32 revolver and an envelope with a number of documents”, police said.
