A man who allegedly used indecent language to and assaulted his wife was yesterday refused bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Askari Ferrier, 29, of 253 David Street, Kitty pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that on January 29 Ferrier unlawfully assaulted his wife at their home in David Street after the woman confronted him about his behaviour.
According to reports, the couple often argued and on the said day, the man ordered his wife to leave their home while he assaulted and cursed her. The woman is now living with her mother.
Ferrier’s lawyer made an application for bail on his behalf, which was subsequently rejected. The man was remanded to prison and the matter will continue tomorrow in Court One.
