Two armed men yesterday forced a man into their vehicle in an apparent kidnapping after first chasing him from King Street to Regent Street.
When Stabroek News arrived on the scene yesterday afternoon a few persons pointed to a burgundy AT 192 Carina with number plate PKK 9308, saying that the man had been about to leave in the car when he had jumped back out and started running towards Regent Street.
An eyewitness told this newspaper that he noticed the man running toward Regent Street and that he was being chased by two men who both had handguns.
“He run pass us and two men been running behind him, and we didn’t see anything after that because we turn the corner, but we hear like he ran into one of those stores round the corner,” the eyewitness said.
This newspaper understands that the man ran into a Regent Street store and tried to seek help, but he was grabbed there by the men and was heard surrendering saying, “Aright, aright.”
Eyewitnesses said the man was then taken to a blue AT 192 Carina which sped off.
Ranks of the police Criminal Investigation Department arrived on the scene shortly after and were still there at the time this newspaper left.
Stabroek News was unable to get any details from the police.
