The cream of the country’s top cyclists are expected to face the starter in Saturday’s second annual George “Boy Blue” Cumberbatch Memorial Cycling race programme at the National Park circuit.
The four-race programme organized by Roraima Bikers Club is slated to start at 09:00 h.
The feature event will be an Open 30-lap race with the top six finishers receiving prizes. The first prize of $10,000, second place will cop $8000, while third place will receive $6000.
Among the riders expected to take part are Alonzo Greaves, Kennard Lovell, John Hamilton, Jonathan Fergundes, Christopher Persaud and Jaikarran Sukhai.
There will also be 12 prime point prizes at stake in the feature race.
The other races are Categories One and Two over 10 laps, Category Three and Four 10 Laps and juniors and Juveniles over a similar distance.
The programme is sponsored by George Humphrey of Humphrey Bakery and Clifford “Toto” Johnson, former President of Roraima Bikers Club.
The programme is being held in honour of former National cyclist George “Boy Blue” Cumberbatch who died a few years ago.
Cumberbatch was a vice president of Roraima Bikers Club and an executive of the Guyana Cycling Federation at the time of his death.
