Dear Editor,
Last night I happen to come across an article written about the genesis of Stabroek News, and the obstacles you had to overcome in the effort to establish this newspaper. It was no easy feat and I want to thank you for keeping us overseas informed.
This is a very sensitive time for Guyana, and we do have the intellectual capacity to do what is right. It is important that when a decision is being made that would impact a certain group of people, that they be involved. Getting this buy in can only help in a successful outcome.
With reference to clearing the bush in the back lands, if this is managed properly it will be supported by the residents of Buxton. A meeting should have been held with the local council and the benefits explained to them. The benefits are very straightforward, security as well as the economic. By clearing the bush, more land can be available for the farmers to plant more and who will refuse the opportunity to make more money to have a better life ?
Yours faithfully,
Michael Annamunthodo
