Dear Editor,
It is with profound sadness that I learnt of the gruesome killings of the 11 innocent adults and children of Lusignan and the young soldier who was killed in Buxton.
On behalf of the National Islamic Sisters Association (NISA) – the sisters’ branch of the Guyana Islamic Trust – I wish to express sincere condolences to the families.
The nation mourns with you and we pray that the perpetrators would be brought to justice – real soon!
This is indeed a test from God almighty and it is a time for all of us to reflect on our lives. Let us unite as a nation despite our ethnic, religious or political backgrounds – which to me does not seem to be the motive for the massacre – and pray that no more innocent life is lost.
The killers are clearly trying to send a message and a warning of what they are capable to doing
