On February 4 the Guyana Consulate in Nickerie, Suriname held a brief memorial service for those slain at Lusignan and Buxton on the East Coast.
The Consulate in a press release said that Hindus, Christians and Muslims offered prayers for the souls of those who were brutally murdered.
The Consulate also expressed its sympathy to the relatives and friends of the deceased and assured the Guyanese government and people of their “unflinching support for their efforts to bring peace and unity” to the country.
The memorial was attended by Guyanese nationals resident and working in Nickerie along with their Surinamese friends, the release said.
