The Ministry of Agriculture has expanded its flood watch to vulnerable low-lying areas along the coast following the heavy rainfall over the past few days.
And Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud and a team of officers from the ministry will be visiting various areas in Regions Three and Five.
Today the team will be at Wakenaam NDC and Hubu, on Friday it will be in Region Five at Mahaicony Creek and Mahaica Creek, and on Sunday in the Abary River, also in Region Five, a press release from the ministry said.
Persaud visited Region Six (Mibicuri NDC, Johanna, Three Bridge and Yakusari, Three Bridge) yesterday.
Meanwhile, residents in low-lying communities are being urged by the ministry to take precautions during this period of intense rainfall. The ministry said it will continue to work with relevant local government authorities to ensure all pumps are operable and kokers/sluices are opened promptly.
