Why was this man killed?

ear Editor,

The recent news that a skeleton was found in the east coast backlands is cause for concern. Reading Sunday’s news, I learned that the skeletal remains are those of an ‘Ishmael’ a Buxtonian who went missing some time ago and who someone said was picked up by gunmen while fetching water in the village.

This certainly raises a number of questions. Why was he murdered? He certainly is not of Indian descent and one of the long lost sugar workers. Was ‘Ishmael’ an accused informer? Could this be one of the reasons why many Buxtonians are so afraid to cooperate with the police in giving information? Will this be their fate if they do?

Was his death some sort of message by gunmen in the village? It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

This village definitely needs cleansing so that the truth can come out and Buxtonians can be free of this evil that seems to have taken over their village.

I now more than ever believe that the clearing of the backlands should continue since it is definitely opening a ‘can of worms’ and may solve a number of mysteries.

I also suspect that this whole business about farmers saying that they don’t want this done because it will destroy their crops will become a minor thing when the truth about what has been taking place in the village is unearthed.

Yours faithfully,
