The Fruta juice advisory issued by the Ministry of Health has been rescinded and it is now advising distributors that the beverage can be distributed without any restrictions.
In a press release, the ministry said that even so, it is continuing its investigations. The Ministry had issued an advisory on Tuesday asking distributors in Guyana to restrict distribution until it had time to determine whether there is merit to recall Fruta in Guyana in light of a recall of Fruta in Barbados.
The release said that since then, new information received by the ministry has revealed that the recall in Barbados has been rescinded and that the batch in question was not distributed in Guyana. The Barbadian Ministry of Health has confirmed that the Fruta juice being sold in Barbados is safe to use, the release noted.
“We further advise the population that we have no evidence at this time to restrict the use of Fruta juice”, the release said.
