Police apprehended two men, who discarded their unlicensed guns and attempted to flee, during a mobile patrol along Mandela Avenue.
In a press release police said around 10.35 pm on Tuesday night they observed the men acting suspiciously as they approached them. They said the men then took two objects from their waistbands, dropped them on the road and started to run.
The ranks intercepted them and during a search of the roadway they found an unlicensed .38 revolver and an unlicensed 9mm Browning pistol with 14 matching rounds.
The men are expected to be charged shortly.
