The Pepsi Cup National Under-17 Inter-Association competition continues this weekend with three matches at three venues around the country.
Georgetown will host Essequibo at the Camptown ground, while Den Amstel ground in West Demerara will be the venue for a clash between West Demerara and Bartica tomorrow in Group “B” action starting at 14:00 h.
On Sunday, Berbice will host East Bank Demerara at the Rosignol ground in Group “A” starting at 15:00 h.
Berbice trounced East Coast Demerara 5-0 in the match reduced to 80 minutes due to soggy conditions at the B lairmont Settlement ground.
Delroy Ferdinand opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a tame shot after the ball had slipped out of the grasp of East Coast goalkeeper Brian Robinson.
King Archer sent his team further into the lead in the 54th minute with a powerful right foot shot and three minutes later Ferdinand returned to score a double.
Peter Mingo scored in the 72nd minute before Travis Henry converted the final goal of the match in the 75th.
Upper Demerara and Berbice leads Group “A” with four (4) points each, East Coast Demerara and East Bank are on 1 point each at the conclusion of four games.
In Group “B” two (2) games have been played to date with Georgetown and Bartica both leading the group on three (3) points each, West Demerara and Essequibo are yet to come off the mark.
The next round of games is fixed for March 1 at various venues. The semi finals are slated for March 9 with the Finals scheduled for March 16 2008 at venues to be named.
