The twinning of Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) could augur well for both clubs, according to secretary of RHTY&SC, Hilbert Foster.
The twinning of the clubs is part of the list of projects current president of DCC Alfred Mentore would like to see materialize during his tenure as he feels such an exercise will benefit the Queenstown-based club.
Speaking with Stabroek Sport, Foster said that such an exercise was expected since last year, but did not materialize for reasons unknown. “We at RHTY&SC were willing and readily available to carry out the process since we believe that such can augur well for cricket not only in Guyana, but the West Indies on the whole, taking its cricket back to the pinnacle of world cricket. DCC is the home of former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, world renowned off spinner Lance Gibbs and Roger Harper. It has a rich history and certainly a well respected and organized body,” Foster commented.
The twinning relationship will see both clubs sharing common visions and ideas. This will entail visits of teams at all levels of the game and the support of each other in moments of need as they seek to return West Indies cricket to the top.
Meanwhile, the executives of both clubs are to meet shortly to work out ideas and strategies as they seek to make a historic move in Guyana.
