The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) will commence its eagerly- anticipated Bryden’s second-division basketball league tournament this evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
In the first game of the league Bounty Colts will take on Pepsi Sonics. That match will be followed by Maccabees against GT Masters’ a team which comprises of local veteran basketball players.
According to president of the GABA, Chris Bowman, the second-division league tournament caters for a wide variety of players throughout Georgetown.
Bowman said the GABA had released a list of players who have been debarred from this competition because their skill level exceeds the level of play of a second-division competition.
Those players are Royston Siland, Stephon Gillis, Naylon Loncke, Kurt `Gypsy’ Elias, Trevor Edwards and Horace Hodges of Pacesetters along with Darcel Harris, Ryan Gullen, Damien Liverpool and Rudy James of Ravens.
Clarence Bennet, Dane Kendall, Kelvin Simon, Gavin Beeram and Darren Thomas have been debarred from Bounty Colts while Triston Tulloch, Mortimer Williams and Fabian Johnson of the Nets basketball club have also been debarred.
Beepat Scorpions will not be allowed to utilize Kester Gomes, Carl Jackman or Darren Gordon while Richard Braithwaite, Earl O’ Neal and Casey Hollingsworth will be sidelined for Pepsi Sonics.
Eugene Kingston will be the only player debarred from the Legends basketball club.
The association also added that teams may rotate players as long as they fulfill the eligibility requirements of the second-division league as there are no restrictions on the number of player allowed to play in the league.
Jump ball for tonight’s first game will be 7pm.
