A good all-round effort from Christopher Surat enabled Everest Cricket Club to defeat newcomers Ace Warriors Cricket Club by six wickets as action in the Lifetime Realty Limited-sponsored Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Under-15 limited overs competition continued yesterday at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground.
After play got underway at 11:45h due to early morning rain, Everest won the toss and invited their opponents to take first strike and Surat went to work immediately as he took 4-23 to see the East Ruimveldt-based team restricted to 120 all out from 27 of their allotted 35 overs.
All-rounder, Trevor Emmanuel, batting at number seven, compiled a fighting 30 while captain Mortland Ward with an unbeaten 20 and Christopher Dick with 17 lent support as no other batsman showed resistance to Surat, who returned with the bat to belt the ball to all areas of the small GNIC ground in making an unbeaten 51 that gave his team a comfortable win.
Dawandat Singh and Eshwar Mohan each made 14 in support of Surat who single-handedly won the game for his team despite the valiant efforts of Emmanuel who claimed 3-12 from six overs of swing bowling in overcast conditions.
