Dear Editor,
The time has indeed come for Guyanese to have the right to bear arms.
The government through the security forces have failed to provide basic protection. Guyana’s human resources are being depleted by means of these massacres.
The people are at the mercy of these ruthless killers and condemnation of these massacres by political parties does nothing in terms of offering protection.
Honest law abiding citizens have a right to protect their lives by any means necessary. The criminal elements are waging war against society and it is crazy to take a knife to a gun fight.
Must we continue to sit and wait with our two empty hands for our turn of execution to come? Do we grieve in advance for loved ones that may lose their lives in any future massacres?
Come on President Jagdeo, give the people a chance to live, a chance to fight for their lives.
Yours faithfully,
K Persaud
