Sunburst Camptown and Pele will clash this evening in the much anticipated inaugural Banks Premium Beer Cup football final, while Alpha United and Santos face off in the third place playoff at the Tucville Playfield.
Kick off time is at 19:00 h.
Both Camptown and Pele are worthy finalists following their impressive showing in the semi-finals with Camptown beating pre-tournament favourites Alpha United 2-0, while Pele edged out arch-rivals 2-1.
Camptown will be pinning their hopes on national players Troy Prescod and Orlando Gilgeous and in form strikers Lance Rolston, Marvin Joseph and Telson McKinnon.
Rolston and Joseph were on target in their semi-final victory.
National midfield player and free kick specialist Kanata Mannings will be spearheading the challenge of the Pele side which is expected to include Travis Grant, captain Dirk Archer, Solomon Austin and Norris Carter with Shemroy Arthur in goal.
Pele had beaten University of Guyana (UG), Western Tigers and Santos in their path to the final, while Camptown got the better of Houston Stars, Alpha United while their quarter-final game was not played but they were awarded the quarter-final match after GDF was suspended following an off the field incident.
Losing semi-finalists Al-pha United and Santos will battle in the third place playoff which is scheduled to start at 19:00 h.
Alpha United will be spearheaded by Anthony Abrams, Howard Lowe, Philbert Moffatt, Shawn Bishop and Quincy Madramootoo, while Santos will have in their line up Dwayne Jacobs, Michael James, Dwayne McKinnon and Quincy Price.
General Secretary of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Marlan Cole disclosed that the Tucville Playfield is in good shape despite the intermittent showers over the past two days.
The tournament, sponsored by local beverage giants Banks DIH under the Premium Beer brand, attracted seven premier teams and nine division one clubs affiliated to the Georgetown Football Association (GFA).
Banks DIH Sales Executive Carlton Joao and Events Coordinator Mortimer Stewart are expected to be on hand to meet the teams before the final.
Camptown and Pele are battling for a first prize of $250,000, the runners-up will secure $125,000, Santos and Alpha United are battling for the third place prize of $75,000 with the loser receiving $50,000.
