Dear Editor,
I am extremely distraught over the fact that the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony and the Mashramani Planning Committee don’t see it necessary to cancel all the remaining Mash celebrations and the float parade on Saturday.
How can these people allow a celebration to go on, especially in the same week where 12 innocent people have been fatally gunned down and several others injured?
It is an absolute atrocity, a total disregard to decency and a crucial blow to all the law abiding citizens of Guyana and particularly to the relatives of the victims of the Lusignan and Bartica killings.
The people of this country need to stand together in unity, our motto says; One People, One Nation, One Destiny, so, how can some of us be mourning and some celebrating?
Yours faithfully,
Rocky Persaud
