Dear Editor,
All Guyanese were forced to stop and reflect on the recent murderous rampage at Bartica. Indeed, we are living in very serious times. The big question is “Where are we heading as a nation”. One answer is certain, the people, in whose hands we have entrusted the governance of this nation do not have a clue. The government has absolutely no idea of what is happening. There is no sense of direction in our society.
Imagine, ministers of the government turning up at Bartica with only tears and cheap talk, embracing and crying with the residents, there. For God’s sake where are the solutions? It is not enough for ministers to shed tears and walk around with long, sad faces; they are the ones who are really responsible for the state of affairs in this country, because they failed to put in place an effective security plan to protect this nation. It is a government’s first obligation to its people.
Imagine, the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Clement Rohee, on NCN/Channel 11, talking in an offensive way, attempting to rebuke certain sections of the media for daring to publish the truth about the incompetence of this government. The government is simply not capable of delivering proper security to citizens.
For that alone, the Minister of Home Affairs must resign.
Yours faithfully,
James Subner
