Dear Editor,
The government is talking about criminal gangs and insurgent elements. But where are all these sophisticated weapons coming from, they do not cost a penny. Do ordinary gangs have the resources to finance such weapons? What is happening is bigger than gangs. Guyana has a drug problem, it is getting out of hand, and it has come to bite all and sundry who had turned a blind eye to it, the very lives of innocent people are threatened.
I call on the government to tackle the drug problem head on and no one should be above the law. To the family, relatives and friends of these victims I weep with you.
Yours faithfully,
Caren English
