Dear Editor,
Not so long ago President Jagdeo spoke about the Marriott Hotel coming to Guyana, to date Guyanese have not heard another word on the issue. In fact Mr Jagdeo has failed to reveal the names of the ‘investors’.
Please, Mr President, reveal the names of those investors so that Guyanese will be able to understand why the directors of the Marriott in Washington DC are reluctant to sign any agreement with the Guyana government. And why is it that the Guyana government has allegedly refused to return phone calls to Marriott’s VP, Mr Carlton Ervin?
Mr Jagdeo should also explain why a Guyanese who wanted to be the main franchise holder of the Marriott was allegedly refused such accommodation by the government.
In closing, I call on Mr Jagdeo to tell us what is the position with the hefty loan given to the owner of Buddy’s International Hotel and whether the hotel is being sold to a Dutch consortium?
Yours faithfully,
Mark Benschop
