A 20-year-old labourer accused of raping a 60-year-old woman was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Malvorn Williams of Present Hope, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was not required to plead to the indictable charge of rape and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez.
It is alleged that on February 17 at Lakaboo, EBE, he raped the woman. The matter was reported and following investigations, he was arrested and charged.
He will return to court on March 31 at Leonora.
