Reports from the president and the treasurer, along with plans for Guyana’s participation at the upcoming Pan American Bench Press competition in Manaus, Brazil, are all on the agenda of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Guyana Amateur Power Lifting Federation (GAPLF) on Saturday, March 1.
There will also be the election of office bearers at the AGM to be held at the White Castle Fish Shop, Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
The new executive who will be in charge will be tasked with putting together a team that can best represent Guyana since the invitation sent out by their Brazilian counterparts is an open one.
A review of the year 2007 and events that were run off by the GAPLF will be the platform used to determine what additional efforts are needed to lift the standards of preparation and participation by athletes and officials. This is necessary since the GAPLF will be looking to send teams to compete at international competitions this year.
The new body will also be tasked with setting a date for the Novices Championships as well as discussing the federation’s other major events for 2008.
Representatives from all gyms affiliated to the GAPLF countrywide are asked to make a special effort to attend this meeting.
