Bartica needs more generation of electricity

Dear Editor,

The community of Bartica continues to consensually express their dissatisfaction with the current state of unreliable electrical power supply which has damaged electrical household appliances, affecting business activity negatively and now, in the aftermath of Sunday February 17, 2008 massacre here where twelve innocent industrious persons tragically perished, it only adds more to the current psychological after effects on residents, particularly where security is concerned.

The population of Bartica has grown for the past two decades, and continues to grow. Housing schemes are being developed, an evidence of population growth and there is an increased proportional demand for a reliable electrical power supply. However the generating capacity of the GPL Bartica chapter to meet and satisfy this demand is obviously not being immediately addressed.

We need this long overdue expansion of our power grid, a need that ties in directly with the many necessary adaptations our community has to undertake in the wake of the recent massacre towards security.

Therefore this is a call to the relevant authorities to boost the electrical generating capacity of the Bartica GPL Chapter, now that there is the injection US $21 million into the GPL’s treasury being our country’s bugetary 2008 allocation presented recently in parliament for an overall increase of GPL’s generating capacity.

In the meantime as we Barticians continue to lick our wounds from the recent massacre, we are still being plagued by an irregular and unreliable electrical power supply that is negatively affecting commerce together with the current lull of economic activities owing to the traumatic aftermath of the massacre.

This is an obvious area of urgent attention for beautiful Bartica as it seeks to rebound on its economic path in retaining momentum towards collectively achieving secondary township status.

Yours faithfully,
