A man serving a life sentence for murder appeared on a charge of abduction in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Mark Anthony Wong, 27, of 89 Grove, East Bank Demerara was charged with forcing a woman to enter his vehicle on Water Street, Georgetown on January 30, 2006. Wong was then a self-employed truck driver.
He was subsequently found guilty of murdering another person and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The complainant in the abduction charge has reportedly said that she did not want to continue with the matter but she was not present in court to say so.
The magistrate said the complainant would have to go to court and state her position before the case could be called off.
April 10 was set as the date for the complainant to attend court.
