Dear Editor,
Some six months ago a wooden bridge across a trench aback of the Suddie Post Office in Region Two was dismantled for replacement by an improved concrete one which is still to be put in use.
Some work was done during the dry season by a contractor who was given the job by the Regional Administration. No further work has been done for several months. What was responsible for the protracted standstill is not known.
Last month another contractor took over from where the first one left off but although further works were done, all along and up to now only pedestrians (as can be seen in the photograph) can make their way across the trench precariously on a piece of board.
When in use, the bridge provides access to places like the housing scheme, the backlands rice fields, the Community Centre Ground, the funeral parlour and the market.
An alternative route by the car park area has to be used to get to these places.
Yours faithfully,
Baliram Persaud
