A 27-year-old man who robbed a minibus conductor of his silver jewellery and cash at a total value of $11,260 was yesterday handed a three-year sentence when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Kevin Lawrence of 634 West Ruimvelt pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery with violence.
According to reports, on February 26 at approximately 10 pm outside a restaurant on High Street, Lawrence robbed Zaheer Azeez of his silver ring, chain and a small quantity of cash and physically abused him in the process.
Lawrence after being given the three-year sentence promptly thanked the magistrate.
