Government is to make a total sum of $300M available for the payment of scrutineers involved in the ongoing national house-to-house registration, topping up the originally allocated sum of $100M.
A press release from the Office of the President said yesterday afternoon that the Office of the President in response to claims by scrutineers for the level of their payment to reflect that committed to by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), has re-examined the issue.
“In that regard the Office of the President has decided to increase the total sum to be made available for the entire scrutineering exercise to $300M, reflective of the level committed to by GECOM,” the release said.
