A 61-year-old man appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with the murder of his 62-year-old brother and was remanded to prison.
Lennox Fitzroy Smith of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez. It is alleged that between February 25 and March 1, at Anna Catherina, WCD, he murdered Walter Watson Dorsette, who is his brother. The decomposing body of Dorsett was found in his home last Saturday while Smith, who was detained immediately after was reportedly found in the home with the body.
Dorsette’s body was discovered when other relatives visited the home and became suspicious after detecting a foul odour. The police were notified and went to the home and discovered the body.
Smith is to return on April 8 to the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
