The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) on Thursday launched its new “Quick Cash Card” at the company’s recreation centre in Bel Air.
According to Chief Executive Officer of GBTI Radhakrishna Sharma, the new card brings to Guyana the potential that prepaid card applications have for efficiently and effectively delivering financial services to all segments of the society.
Sharma explained that the card allows the user to load cash up to $250,000, which can then be used to carry out a number of financial activities.
He said it is the ideal product for employers with a large monthly cash payroll. Instead of moving large sums of money to their premises, employers can now instruct the bank to credit each employee’s card with the money.
GBTI launched its Kaieteur Classic local debit card in 1994, becoming the first bank to offer card services to its customers. It stressed that the new Quick Cash Card aims to give customers the option of increasing their personal security.
